  • a series of unfortunate events

Last week at home a letter arrived, from the local police where my daughter used to work in her salon. Inside - a speeding ticket for Fr 240 (£120) from when i had dropped her at work one morning. That was for doing 51 in a 40 Km/h zone.
Then at work this week another letter arrived from the same police. A speeding ticket for Fr 120 for a company car that I had borrowed to go and meet her boss to discuss whether she was staying at the salon! I think that was for 9km over the limit. Of course I have to pay it, the company does not pay speeding fines.
And today my pedometer, that I was doing so well with, fell down the toilet!! and disappeared around the bend along with a lot of other stuff we won't go into, but I think Jack has done a post on it recently.

So all of that, plus of course driving into the goalpost last month means that I am getting to be rather broke.
It can only get better.............. I hope;D

  • walking for fitness

I am again on a determined effort to lose some weight. I have managed to drop a couple of kilos by excluding chocolate and wine, so am on the right way.
Last week I went to a presentation on health in the workplace, and had my spine measured and my body fat % measured. Now apparently even Top models can have too high body fat - due to lack of muscle, so I should not be too embaressed by mine being over 30%

But it spurred me on even more, and I bought a pedometer which I am now wearing each day and trying to increase the count each day. Yesterday I drove in, and only managed about 1200 steps all day. Today, I took the train, and the stairs, and with that and walking to the printer a lot, I am already up to 1779 steps. next I am going to walk to Church for a charity soup lunch, and back, so maybe today I will hit 6000.
The recommendation though to lose weight is 10000, so I have a way to go.

  • future decision made

well, Rebekka did not need 3 months more time to decide about hairdressing, she packed it in on Saturday. She seems much happier now it is done. Tomorrow we sign the release papers, and next Monday she returns to school to study for the entrance test for the Gymi.
On saturday I was at the info morning for the Gymnasium, and it seems ideal for her. Great art department, which she can major in, and for my youngest a great music department that she can major in. It means, that all being well, and they both get in, the original 3 year gap between them in classes will be down to 1 year, which is interesting.

Rebekka was totally motivated to call her old teachers and sort it all out, and her old school was very supportive. This is cos it was a private college, and they see more money, but also cos they can. A state school would not have been able to be so flexible, so it is gratifying how the decision to send her private one year is paying off in more ways.
I also heard Rebekka assuring her old teacher that the last 3 months had changed her, for the better, and she was a better person for it. So I guess it was all good experience.

As she is now back on a monthly allowance, not as high as her apprentice wage, I have offered her the opportunity to make extra money by taking over the cleaning each week. I hope this will have the knock on effect of her being tidier generally then. She is thinking about it :>
